Mogadishu – The Federal Minister of Internal Security of Somalia, General Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), Minister of Defence Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, the Commander of the Somali Police Force, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Somalia attended a high-level ceremony today marking the ninth anniversary of the failed coup attempt in Turkey in 2016.
The commemoration, held at the Somali Police Force Knowledge Centre in Mogadishu, also featured the official inauguration of a Turkish Language School, newly established within the centre.
The initiative aims to enhance the language proficiency of Somali police personnel while further strengthening the strategic cooperation between Somalia and Turkey.

In his keynote address, Minister Fartaag commended the Government of Turkey for its unwavering and long-standing support to Somalia, particularly in the areas of security sector development and institutional capacity building.
He emphasized that the language school represents a significant opportunity for Somali police officers to acquire Turkish language skills, which will contribute to deepening bilateral ties and fostering greater operational collaboration between the two nations.
