Somali Federal Electoral Commission has nullified the election result of HOP#086 which was won by Ex-NISA boss and current National Security Advisor to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo Fahad Yassin citing irregularities and complaints raised against the seat.
Addressing the Media in the capital Mogadishu, the Chairman Muse Gulled said that the election of the seat contravened the existing electoral process and procedures and declared the result “null and void”
This comes after an earlier statement by the body on its Facebook page, reiterated that it had not changed its earlier stand against the election and results of the seat and refused to recognize its outcome.
The body only acknowledged the elections results of five other seats which were elected in Beledweyne on Sunday.
Yassin won the seat in election that took place at Ugaas Khalif airport in Beledweyne town, Hirshabelle State where he received 74 votes against his rival who got 24 votes.
In his victory speech, Fahad promised to represent and advocate for the rights of the people of his constituency and the entire Beledweyne and Hirshabelle State in the forthcoming 11th parliament.
Yassin is said to be gearing up for the post of deputy speaker, a position he ripped off from outgoing deputy speaker Abdiweli Mudey who was last week denied to seek for re- election in Barawe town, South West State.
