NAIROBI– Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) on Thursday convened a meeting with governors from Frontier counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, West Pokot Samburu & Turkana county respectively.

The governors presented their review of the  Third Basis for Revenue Sharing and their proposals on the Fourth Basis 2025/26-2029/30.

During the meeting the FCDC governors called for more funding to their counties.

The governors argued that the development needs, land/water mass area, lifestyle of the communities, and other unique needs deserve attention in the upcoming Fourth Basis for Revenue Basis Among Counties.

Speaking at the meeting Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi who is also the Vice-chair of Council of Governor Pointed out that CRA was set up with good intention but was never allowed to work.

“We believe that CRA is one of the commissions that was set up with good intentions but was never allowed to work in the manner it ought to have. Because there is still alot of push on CRA from the powers that be” said Governor Ahmed.

The Commission has organised consultative meetings with each bloc, starting today with the Frontier Counties’ Development Council (FCDC).

The Fourth Basis will be in use for five financial years (2025/26 to 2029/30) and needs to be determined by Parliament by December 2024.
