NAIROBI- Wajir gubernatorial candidate in the 2022 elections Dr. Adan Hassan Mohamed alias Fuje has impugned the judgement delivered on Friday by High court judge George Dulu which upheld the election of Ahmed Abdullahi as governor for Wajir.
In a press statement sent to the media on Thursday, Dr. Fuje said he is dissatisfied with the decision of the court and will seek redress in the court of Appeal.
The Jubilee Party Candidate in last year’s General elections said that the determination to challenge the High court verdict was informed by their decision augmented by material facts that according to him showed the elections were bungled.
“Our decision to appeal is informed by us believe and backed by material facts that elections were bungled in three constituencies which in the end affected the outcome of last August’s election results.” he said.

The statement further added that their were electoral malpractices that were recorded in three constituencies including Eldas whose election was postponed due to chaos that rocked the constituency which he said were purposely choreographed to create voter apathy.
“There were unlawful electoral practices and numerous irregularities that were recorded in the three constituencies of Eldas, Wajir West and Wajir East including violence that led to the postponement of voting especially in Eldas by one more day.” said Hassan.
Dr. Fuje observed that their were voter swapping, ballot stuffing and failure to make use of the KIEMS kits in Wajir west constituency which he said can warrant the annulment of the governorship elections.
“In the cases of Wajir East and Eldas, voting was marred by incidents of insecurity that were choreographed for the sole purpose of scaring voters away from polling stations while in Wajir West, the story was about ballot stuffing, vote swapping, failure to use KIEMS kits and delay in result transmissions.” read the statement.
Meanwhile, Hassan has refuted claims that the court petition is impeding service delivery in the county.
He noted that the petition is against individuals and not the county government asserting that no one should use the court battle to deny service delivery to the people of Wajir.
The proprietor of Nairobi South Hospital further called in to question the 4 billion that the county government has received in the last six months saying that services are not in tandem with the whopping amount channelled to the county government.
“In any case, the county has recieved a whooping Sh4 billion in the last six months yet services are not in tandem with such huge disbursement.” he said.
He eventually appealed to the National government, international donors and organizations to continue with the supporting programmes that uplift the lives of vulnerable and needy people in the county particularly during this difficult time of the devastating drought.
“We want also to use this opportunity to appeal to National Government, Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) and other agencies operating from Wajir to continue with the good work of supporting programmes that uplift the needy, poor and vulnerable in our communities particularly during this period of drought and famine.” he said.
This even as calls continue intensify for him( Dr. Hassan) to halt his decision to Appeal for the benefit of the county residents who are battling with myriad challenges including the devastating drought that has decimated livestock and claimed human lives.
The High court sitting in Nairobi had on Friday last week dismissed the petition by Dr. Hassan challenging the victory of governor Ahmed Abdullahi in the August polls.
Judge Dulu said the petitioner had failed to produce substantial evidence that could warrant the invalidation of Abdullahi who won on ODM ticket.
