GARISSA- A candidate for ward representative has asked locals to vote leadership with integrity to ensure devolution is felth at grassroots level.

‎Mohamed Farah Abdullahi who is aspiring to represent Dertu ward said it’s unfortunate that devolution has failed because leadership have either misappropriated funds or do not know what devolution entails.

‎”It’s now 13th year of devolution but we have nothing to be proud of simply because we have been recycling leaders with questionable characters,” he said while addressing group of youths at a Garissa hotel on Tuesday morning.

‎Mohamed criticized the current crop of county assembly representatives saying they have been working under the behest of the governor instead of making devolution work for the people.

‎He alleged that devolution has failed in Northeastern because majority of the assembly members do not know their mandate.

‎The MCA hopeful told voters to ensure they elect knowledgeable individuals with high integrity so as to take on the governor to ensure resources are felt in all wards.

‎”If elected inshAllah, things Will no longer be the same, we must ensure money goes to it’s intended purposes, we must as leaders ensure devolution work for our people,” he said.

‎He termed as unfortunate the continuous lack of water in Garissa town and other town despite River Tana passing through the county, accusing county officials of failing their failing their mandate.

‎Mohamed said that Northeastern will rally behind the current president’s re-election for what he said heavy government’s investment in the region.

‎”For the first time in Kenya’s history, our people can get their IDs without going through vetting which was discriminatory,by removing such we will reward President Ruto with his second time,” he noted.

‎The heavy infrastructure investment, he noted had never happened in the history of Northeastern saying Ruto and UDA government deserve second term.
