Isiolo South Member of Parliament, Mohamed Tubi, was on Thursday laid to rest at the Tuloroba Muslim Cemetery in Isiolo Town in accordance with Islamic rites.
Hundreds of mourners, including residents, political leaders, and dignitaries, gathered to pay their final respects to the late legislator, who passed away on Wednesday while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
The burial ceremony was attended by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who led a delegation of MPs and other national leaders in mourning the departed parliamentarian.
In his tribute, Speaker Wetang’ula described the late Tubi as a peace-loving and dedicated leader who worked tirelessly to promote development and unity in Isiolo South despite facing persistent health challenges.
“Hon. Tubi was a true servant of the people. Even while battling illness, he remained committed to representing his constituents and addressing key issues such as land and security,” said Wetang’ula.
The Speaker further noted that before joining national politics, Hon. Tubi served as the inaugural Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, where he laid a strong foundation for the growth of the devolved system of governance in the county.
Wetang’ula urged the residents of Isiolo and the late MP’s family to find solace in the legacy he leaves behind, reminding them that “death is inevitable” and calling on them to honor his memory by upholding peace and unity in the region.
Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali also eulogized the late legislator as a champion of peace and cohesion, urging leaders in the region to emulate his humility and commitment to public service.
Isiolo County leaders, including the Senator, expressed their appreciation to the National Assembly for standing with Tubi’s family during his final days, noting that Parliament had stepped in to support him after his medical insurance coverage was exhausted.
The late MP, who was serving his first term in Parliament, will be remembered for his advocacy on land rights, security, and equitable development for the people of Isiolo South.
