Jamia Mosque Nairobi has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Hon. Justice Mohammed Kadhar Ibrahim, a Judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya and Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), describing his death as a profound loss to the nation and the Judiciary.
In a condolence statement released by the Majlis and Majlis Ulamaa of Jamia Mosque Nairobi, together with the Chairman, the institution conveyed its heartfelt sympathies to the family of the late jurist and to the wider judicial fraternity. The statement opened with the words, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un” — To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return — reflecting the solemnity of the moment and the depth of the loss.
Jamia Mosque Nairobi paid tribute to Hon. Justice Ibrahim as a distinguished jurist whose life and career were marked by integrity, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to justice and the rule of law.

The mosque extended special condolences to Hon. Justice Martha K. Koome, EGH, the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya and Chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, as well as to the late judge’s beloved wife, children, relatives, and colleagues within the Judiciary and the JSC.
In its message, Jamia Mosque Nairobi offered prayers for the departed, asking the Almighty to grant Hon. Justice Mohammed Kadhar Ibrahim infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus. The institution also prayed for patience, comfort, and strength for all those mourning his passing.
The death of Hon. Justice Ibrahim has been widely felt across the country, with many recognizing his legacy as one of principled service and commitment to the ideals of justice that underpin Kenya’s constitutional order.
