NAIROBI- Moment after president William Ruto appointed Noordin Haji as Director-general National Intelligence service (NIS)
Leaders from the Muslim community led by Defence cabinet Secretary Aden Duale have congratulated Mr Noordin Haji on his appointment.
In a statement posted on his social media pages, Duale said “I would wish to extend my hearty congratulations to Mr. Noordin Haji, CBS, on his appointment, by President William Ruto, as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).”
He further added that Mr Haji is not new to the task ahead. Having served as the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and Deputy Director of the Counter Organized Crime Unit within the NIS, and thus has the requisite experience to handle his new responsibility.

Other leaders who congratulated Mr Haji include Mandera Senator and UDM Party leader Ali Roba.
Roba in a statement “I would like to immensely thank HE President William Ruto for appointing Noordin Haji. This appointment signifies a lot for Northern Kenya and makes a very bold statement about the intentions of the President. We are immensely grateful.”

Kamukunji MP Yussuf Hassan also congratulated Noordin Haji’s appointment.

President William Ruto this evening nominated Noordin Haji as the next Director General of the National Intelligence Service.
If considered by Parliament, Mr Haji will succeed Philip Kameru who is due for retirement.
Mr Kameru has been at the helm of the intelligence agency since September 2014.

Mr Haji, whose late father, Yussuf Haji, was a long-serving public officer and later Garissa Senator, is a law graduate of Wales College, Cardiff. He also holds a second master’s degree in national security policy from Australian National University.
He was admitted to the bar in 1999 and later joined the Attorney-General’s office as a state counsel.
Mr Haji will be vetted by the National Assembly and if approved, will be President Ruto’s chief adviser on national security and sit on the National Security Advisory Committee and the National security council.
