Mudavadi Oversees Iftar Support in Kibra, Urges Support and Solidarity with the Nubian Community

In the giving spirit of Ramadhan, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Musalia Mudavadi, has led the distribution of Iftar food support in Makina, Kibra Constituency, to families observing the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative was spearheaded by the UAE Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Dr. Salem Ibrahim Al Naqbi, will benefit 823 households from Kibra area. Families received essential food supplies to support them during the fasting period.

Mudavadi commended Ambassador Al Naqbi for the UAE’s generosity. “This donation is a testament to the strong bonds between Kenya and the UAE. It will go a long way in ensuring many families observe Ramadan with dignity,” said Mudavadi.

He also lauded the leadership of Kibra Jamia Mosque for their commitment to community service. “I appreciate the mosque leadership for standing with the people. Your dedication to service is truly commendable,” he noted.

Addressing the longstanding land concerns of the Nubian community, Mudavadi reassured them of the government’s unwavering commitment to securing their rightful land. “The 288 acres of land designated for the Nubian community is with the Kenyan government, and we are actively following up to ensure its proper allocation and utilization,” he stated.

He further urged Ambassador Al Naqbi to explore ways to modernize mosques in Kibra, drawing inspiration and support from the UAE.

“I encourage you to look into modernizing places of worship in Kibra, just as we see in the UAE, with well-designed, spacious, and fully equipped facilities that better serve the community,” said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi also emphasized the government’s Affordable Housing Project, stressing its role in improving living conditions. “Nothing good comes easy. We will work closely to ensure households get decent shelter through this project,” he stated.

He urged the community to embrace the initiative. “The government’s vision is to provide quality, affordable housing for all. We are committed to ensuring Kibra residents benefit from this program,” he noted.

Speaking at the event, Mudavadi reflected on his earlier engagement at Radisson Blu Hotel, which is also located in Kibra Constituency, where he held discussions on the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“No government is without challenges, but what matters is ensuring peace prevails,” he said.

He urged Kenyans to pray for stability in the region. “During this season of Ramadan, let us pray for peace in the DRC because if we don’t, it may eventually affect us,” stated Mudavadi.

He also emphasized Kenya’s role as a regional peace hub. “When people want to protest about grievances in their countries, they come to Kenya because we are a peace-loving and democratic nation that welcomes all our neighbours,” said Mudavadi.

H.E. Dr. Salim Al Naqbi, the UAE Ambassador to Kenya reiterated the brotherly relationship between Kenya and the UAE and gave assurances of continued support to Kenya.

The Muslim leadership, which was led by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims appreciated Government efforts in attending to the issues affecting the Muslim community, including duty waivers on essential supplies during Ramadan. He emphasized the importance of partnerships in uplifting vulnerable communities across Kenya.

Commissioner of Revenue Allocation Hadija Juma appreciated the efforts of the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary to facilitate the event and support. She emphasized the importance of women in society and spoke to the need for continuous support for women in society., the Red Cross Secretary General, and H.E. Dr. Salem Ibrahim Al Naqbi.
