CAIRO- The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met today with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, at the Al-Alamein Presidential Palace in Cairo.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and advancing strategic cooperation between the two nations.
During the talks, both presidents discussed ways to deepen people-to-people ties and expand cooperation in key sectors including diplomacy, security, education, health, and military collaboration.
President El-Sisi announced that Egypt will soon reopen its embassy in Mogadishu as a clear sign of Egypt’s strong commitment to strengthening relations with Somalia.
President Hassan Sheikh praised Egypt’s active role in supporting Somalia, especially in its efforts to stabilize and rebuild institutions.

He highlighted the importance of Egypt’s continued involvement in Somalia’s development journey and acknowledged Cairo’s support in combating terrorism, advancing education, and improving health services.
The two leaders also agreed to accelerate the implementation of the bilateral cooperation agreement signed in August 2024, which outlines joint initiatives and partnerships across multiple sectors.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the Somali people and government, especially in the fight against terrorism and efforts to maintain unity and security in the country. He commended the Somali government’s progress in nation-building and reform.
President Hassan Sheikh expressed Somalia’s strong commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Egypt and extended his gratitude to President El-Sisi and the Egyptian government for their warm hospitality.
