Mogadishu – Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today officially inaugurated the newly constructed headquarters of the Somali National Army’s Military Intelligence and Reconnaissance Command in Mogadishu.
The state-of-the-art facility is designed to enhance the operational capacity of the Somali Armed Forces and strengthen national security and defense capabilities.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Hassan Sheikh highlighted the significance of the new centre as a symbol of the government’s continued commitment to rebuilding and modernizing Somalia’s defense institutions.
He noted that the advanced technologies integrated into the facility will significantly support intelligence gathering, strategic planning, and military operations across the country.

The President commended the Ministry of Defense and the Somali National Army leadership for their tireless efforts in enhancing military infrastructure. He stated that each achievement is a testament to the resilience of the Somali people and the courage of their armed forces.
Following the inauguration, President Hassan Sheikh visited the Ministry of Defense, where he received a detailed briefing on recent military operations from the Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Odowaa Yusuf Rage.
The briefing covered major successes achieved by the Somali National Army and allied community defense forces in the Galgaduud and Lower Shabelle regions, where they have dealt significant blows to terrorist groups.
This visit underscores the government’s ongoing dedication to restoring peace, strengthening security, and empowering national defense institutions in the face of persistent threats fromterror groups.
