MOGADISHU- The number of insurgents surrendering to the Somali Armed Forces and various units of the Somali government has in the last few days been soaring.
According to the Somali military, the militants are giving themselves in after failing to withstand with the violence and ongoing meted on by the government and her Friendly partners.
Dhurre Yusuf Garow, who is populary known as (Hilal), has this morning surrendered this to the command of the Somali National Army in the 60th Division, which is headquartered in Bay region.
Dhurre, who was in charge of the guerilla operations of the outlawed group, says that he could not bear the lies of the group who are falsely attacking Islam and internal conflict that has rocked the group in the recent past.
The surrenderer has sent a call to his other friends in the rebel group to come out and take advantage of the amnesty offered by the government to the Al-Shabab gunmen who return from the perverted ideas of the extremists.
Somali Federal government has since last year June been conducting offensive and onslaught against the Al-qaeda affiliate group which has seen a number of militants killed and chunks of lands wrestled from their control in the expansive central and southern Somalia.
According to the Somali Defense military about 3000 Shabaab gunmen have been killed and over 3, 700 injured in the military led operations against the group.
The Al- Qaeda affiliate group -Al-Shabaab was toppled out of the capital Mogadishu in 2011 buy still controls large swathes of land in Southern and Central Somalia where they usually launch their attacks from.
Al-Shabab is trying to destabilise the UN backed fragile Somali Federal government and impose its own strict interpretation of the Islamic Sharia.
