African Union Transition Mission in Somalia ( ATMIS) Burundi troops stationed at Jowhar Town Forward Operating Base (FOB) organised a free medical camp for Jowhar residents.

The families who benefitted from beneficiaries from the camp expressed gratitude to ATMIS medics for constant support.

According to a statement from ATMIS, the exercise is part of Civil-Military Cooperation (#CIMIC) to strengthen relations between the military and local communities.

This is not the first time that ATMIS especially the Burundi contingent troops has extended support to the communities living in their jurisdiction.

Recently, the Burundi forces serving under the African Union Mission in Somalia provided humanitarian support to vulnerable families living in Towfiq IDP camp.

The humanitarian relief support significantly impacted on the lives of the refugees who were struggling to make ends meet especially during this time of national crisis caused by diverse natural calamities including the current spring rains across the Horn of Africa Nation.
