NAIROBI– Environment and Forestry, Aden Duale, on Wednesday held a fruitful bilateral meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador to Kenya, Wael Nasreldin Attiya, to discuss the progress of bilateral cooperation in the forestry and environmental sectors.
The meeting focused on several key areas, including the upcoming Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), scheduled to take place from 8th to 12th December 2025 at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.
The theme of UNEA-7 will be “Advancing Sustainable Solutions for a Resilient Planet.”
As part of the preparations for UNEA-7, the seventh meeting of the Open-ended Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-7) will be held from 1st to 5th December 2025. The committee will deliberate on the event’s agenda, setting the stage for meaningful discussions on global environmental challenges.
On the forestry front, CS Duale expressed Kenya’s desire to tap into Egypt’s expertise in Arid and Semi-Arid forest development, as well as indigenous tree seedling propagation. These efforts are aligned with Kenya’s ambitious 15 billion Tree Growing flagship project aimed at improving livelihoods, combating desertification, and enhancing the country’s forest cover.
