NAIROBI– Eldas MP Adan has condemned the Azimio La Umoja mass demonstrations saying it is destructive.
In a strongly worded statement sent to newsroom on Friday, Keynan argued the timing of the opposition protest asserting that is contemptuous to the Muslim community in Kenya who have begun observing the holy month of Ramadhan on Thursday.
He added that the demonstrations has put the country in the dark side of the World Map.
“I condemn in the strongest words; the planned mass action by Azimio la Umoja, at a time when the Muslim faithful are fasting during the Holy month of Ramadan.

These plans are contemptuous to the Muslim Faith and casts Kenya in a negative light to the rest of the world as a country that does not care about the rule of law and religious freedom.” he said.
The longest serving MP noted that the ongoing Azimio protests is unhelpful and thus can not bring solutions to the myriad problems plaguing the country adding that the political faction is compounding the already disturbed state of affairs in the country by fomenting violence and stoking discord among Kenyans.
“In fact, the faction is making a bad situation even worse by inciting unwarranted tension, fomenting violence, sowing discord and promoting hatred, which denigrates civility and imperils the peace and stability of the Nation.” said Keynan.
He underscored that the Muslim community has a right to observe their fast and prayers in peace without commotion and called on the Azimio brigade to call off the demonstrations.
“The Muslim Community has a right to tranquil environment during the Ramadan, as we pray for peace and the unity of the Nation, against the backdrop of heightened tension and economic unrest.” he said
His calls come amid sustained threets by the opposition led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that they will continue with their mass demonstrations every Monday and Thursday to pressurized the government to Lower the cost of living and reconstitute the IEBC panel.
This even as Muslim community in Kenya and across the World begin observing the holy month of Ramadhan which entails lots of prayers, fasting from dawn to dusk and recitation of additional prayers in the night called “Tarawih”
