The Senate Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations has lauded Garissa County Government under the stewardship of Governor Nathif Jama for its financial transparency and accountability.
The Committee Chair Sen. Mohamed Abass Sheikh (Wajir) commended Governor Nathif Jama’s thoroughness and clarity while detailing the operations of several county-managed commercial bank accounts amid the Senate’s continued scrutiny of County Government’s financial management practices across the country.
“Governor Jama gave a very detailed account about the financial operations in the county. That itself is a high level of accountability,” Sen. Abass said. “It is clear that Garissa County is committed to effective financial management and transparency”.
Governor Nathif appeared today before the Committee to present a comprehensive breakdown of the county’s operational structure and the financial status of each account the County Government operates.

These accounts include The Scholarship Account, Revenue Collection Account, The Emergency Fund Account, The Salary Account and the Revolving Fund Account.
He also explained how the county manages its budget amidst growing demand for development while maintaining fiscal responsibility to meet the county’s varied needs.
Governor Nathif emphasized his administration’s commitment to transparency, stating, “Our goal is to make sure that every shilling is accounted for and used in a manner that benefits the residents of Garissa County.”
