BALADWEYNE– Residents of Baladweyne Town of Hiraan region have this morning woken up to the heavy presence of armed forces that barricaded main roads of the town.
The armed group which closed main roads even the road leading to the Airport limiting movement of people in and out of the town is said to be the anti-al-shabab clan militias better known as ” Mawislay”
The main reason of the armed groups’ blockage of roads is not known but this comes in the wake of a dismissal letter of the State Governor Ali Jayte, announced at midnight by the President of the semi-autonomous region of Hirshabelle Ali Gudlawe.
The ousted Governor has not issued any official statement concerning his dismissal but he is expected to give a report on the situation in the next hours.
The embattled Governor Ali Jayte is remembered by the locals of Hiraan for the crucial role he played during the first phase in the fight against Al-Shabab which the Somali government managed to flush out the militia group from the east of Hiran region.
