NAIROBI– Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Tuesday hosted a delegation from Finland led by Mr. Jarno Syrjälä, Deputy Minister for International Trade, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, to explore new areas of cooperation focused on strengthening Kenya’s health systems and advancing primary health care.
The discussions focused on deepening the Kenya-Finland partnership to drive shared health priorities and ensure effective alignment of efforts towards impactful, people-centered health outcomes.
The CS acknowledged Finland’s steadfast support to Kenya’s health sector through bilateral programs, technical expertise, and capacity building.

He particularly commended the EUR 19.37 million VAMED Project, which is supporting the supply of turnkey medical equipment and refurbishment of maternal and newborn care units at 20 facilities across 12 counties.
This initiative will accelerate Kenya’s efforts to reduce maternal and newborn mortality and advance the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Public Health Principal Secretary Ms. Mary Muthoni and Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth also attended the meeting.
