NAIROBI– Twenty-seven police officers drawn from the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have returned home after a successful deployment with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
Led by Contingent Commander Mr. Dennis Wekesa, SSP, the officers were received at the National Police Service (NPS) headquarters, Jogoo House, by Mr. Mathew Kutoh, SAIG, Principal Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, who represented IG Mr. Douglas Kanja.
Mr. Kutoh commended the officers for their discipline and dedication, noting that no disciplinary cases were reported during their tour of duty—a reflection of their professionalism and commitment.

He urged them to reintegrate with their colleagues and utilize the skills and knowledge gained from the mission to enhance service delivery and transform police stations into centres of excellence.
“The experience you’ve gained in international peacekeeping should now be channelled into reforming and improving our local service delivery,” said Mr. Kutoh.
Also present were Dr. Mwangi Wanderi, SAIG, Director of Human Capital Development; Mr. John Kamau, AIG, Director of Reforms; Madam Joyce Kanda, AIG, Deputy Director of Human Capital Development; Mr. Albert Masese, CP, NPS Staff Officer for Peace Support Operations; and other senior officers.
Their return marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s ongoing contribution to regional peace and security through international peacekeeping efforts.
