NAIROBI– Wajir County Women Representative Fatuma Jehow has condemned the recent discovery of a body at Lake Yahuud.
This incident, she says, contributes to an alarming trend of violence and criminal activity that is destabilizing the community and undermining the safety and security of its citizens.
In a statement released from her office and seen by Frontier Online, Jehow strongly condemned the act, highlighting the emotional toll on the families affected and the broader impact on public confidence in law enforcement.
“We are deeply disturbed by the recent reports of a body being found at Lake Yahuud. This tragic incident is part of a disturbing and growing pattern of bodies being discovered in the lake, which is both horrifying and destabilizing for our community. Such events instill unnecessary fear and panic, undermining the sense of security that every citizen deserves,” Jehow said.

The Women Representative further emphasized the sanctity of human life and the collective responsibility to protect every individual, urging security agencies to take immediate and thorough action to investigate the case and ensure that justice is served.
“It is our duty as a society to uphold the sanctity of human life. The security of our people is paramount, and it is the responsibility of our security agencies to act swiftly and decisively in addressing these heinous acts. We deserve to feel safe in our homes and communities,” she continued.
Jehow also took the opportunity to condemn the growing instances of extrajudicial killings and abductions that have plagued the region in recent months. Describing such acts as “unlawful and inhumane,” she called on the government and all concerned authorities to prioritize the safety of citizens and to ensure accountability for those responsible for these violent acts.
“I wholeheartedly condemn the growing instances of extrajudicial killings and abductions. These acts are not only unlawful but also inhumane. They have no place in a just and civilized society. The government and all concerned agencies must act decisively to end such atrocities and restore peace and security to our people,” Jehow asserted.
The statement from Wajir County Women Representative Fatuma Jehow comes as police in Wajir brought the body of a male person recovered from Lake Yahuud.
Other sources who spoke to Frontier Online on the condition of anonymity suggested that the body might belong to a businessman who went missing a few days ago.
