Garissa County – Nominated Member of Parliament Umulkheir Harun Mohamed has raised serious concerns over what she described as an unlawful and aggressive arrest operation carried out by police officers in Bulla Mzuri.

According to local residents, the incident happened recently when several unidentified men, believed to be police officers, forcefully entered a private home by jumping over the fence.

They reportedly made loud demands for the door to be opened, claiming to be police officers but failing to show any official identification or search warrant.

The individuals then left the scene in unmarked vehicles, taking with them Mohamed Ahmed Nur, whose whereabouts were unknown at the time of the report.

MP Umulkheir condemned the incident, saying such operations only create fear and tension in the community.

She called for the immediate release of Mohamed Ahmed Nur and urged law enforcement officers to respect the law and the rights of citizens.

“This kind of ambush-style arrest, without a warrant and without identifying themselves, is unacceptable,” she said.

“I demand the immediate release of Mohamed Ahmed Nur. Arrests must be carried out legally, with transparency, and individuals must be presented before a court of law.”

She also reminded the police that the Constitution of Kenya guarantees all citizens the right to due process and fair treatment under the law.

“The police must work with the community, not against it. Respecting due process and the courts is the only way to build public trust and ensure justice,” she added.

The MP called on relevant authorities, including the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), to investigate the incident and take appropriate action.
