NAIROBI, Kenya – In a landmark moment for youth leadership and gender equality in Africa, Najma Ahmed Abdi has been inaugurated as the first female President of the Pan-African Independent Youth Parliament (PAIYP) during a high-level ceremony held at the Weston Hotel in Nairobi.
The event marked the conclusion of a vibrant three-day summit that gathered over 50 youth leaders, policymakers, academics, and civil society voices from across the continent.
The summit focused on youth-driven solutions for key challenges including education, employment, leadership, democracy, climate change, and digital innovation.
Najma takes over from Ambassador Sixtus Obinna Nwoke of Nigeria, who led the organization through two successful terms.
“This is not just a change of leadership—it’s a call to action,” said Najma. “Young people are not here to be ignored. We are here to lead.”
