Daud called on the government to dispatch explosives ordnance specialists from the military and police to conduct route checks and bomb- surveillance in the area in a bid to get rid of bombs, IEDs and other explosives.
He blamed the Al-Qaeda affiliate group -Al-Shabaab for abandoning explosives ordnances in the area in an attempt to cause harm on security officials.
Moreover, the legislator sent condolences to the family of the deceased and wished quick recovery to the injured children.
“I would like to send MY CONDOLENCES to the family of the deceased & wish the injured a QUICK RECOVERY” said the legislator.
This is not the first time unexploded ordnance have claimed lives of innocent people in Wajir county, in February this year, two children and their mother were injured after a bomb they were using to set up a three stone fire for cooking exploded.
Four people were killed on February 21st when a vehicle they were traveling in ran over a bomb that had been set on the road in Andaki, Wajir County.
The four were aboard a land cruiser and were reported to have been carrying foodstuffs when the vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The area was used by colonialists for military bases and has in recent years became a target for Al-Shabab militant group who usually plant landmines on the roads and strategic places with the intention of wrecking havoc on security personnel.
Al-Shabab has been bombing and killing security officials and local administrators in retaliation in the towns that border the porous border since the government of Kenya sent its troops to Somalia to tame the militant group in 2011.
