MOGADISHU– President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Visits Turkish Oil Exploration Vessel “Oruc Reis” After Completion of Survey Off Somali Coast
Mogadishu– The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today visited the Turkish research vessel “Oruc Reis”, which has been conducting oil and gas exploration activities off the Somali coast.
The visit comes shortly after the official completion of a major offshore energy survey, marking a significant milestone in Somalia’s path towards harnessing its natural resources.

During the visit, President Hassan Sheikh praised the efforts of the technical team and Turkish partners involved in the strategic mission.
He acknowledged the importance of the collaboration, emphasizing that the results of this survey could greatly influence Somalia’s economic future and further strengthen bilateral relations with Turkey.
“This is a major achievement that supports our national goal of fully benefiting from our natural resources,” President Hassan Sheikh said. “It opens the door to economic opportunities and social development.
The Turkish government and its people continue to lead efforts that show Somalia is ready for investment and progress.”
The President highlighted his administration’s commitment to reviving the national economy by responsibly utilizing Somalia’s vast natural wealth, which he said has the potential to address many of the country’s ongoing challenges.
The oil and gas survey is seen as a turning point in Somalia’s efforts to attract international investment and boost self-reliance through sustainable development.
