China has said it is ready to implement the zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent tariff lines for 53 African countries having diplomatic relations.
In a letter to ministers of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Chinese President Xi Jinping said that would be available once the leaders of the continent negotiate and sign the agreement of China-Africa Economic Partnership for Shared Development to with China
“China will also provide more convenience for the least developed countries in Africa to export to China,” said President Jinping.
President Jinping noted that with the current international situation marked by changes and turmoil, was China was committed to providing new opportunities for the world.
The opportunities he noted include new achievements of Chinese modernization and offering new impetus to the Global South partners, including Africa, with its huge market.
The areas of opportunities President Jinping noted were to deepen the implementation of the 10 partnership actions for modernization, strengthen cooperation in such key projects.
Green industry, e-commerce and e-payment, science and technology, and artificial intelligence, and enhance cooperation in security, finance and the rule of law, to promote high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation he said President Jinping.
Speaking during the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr. Musalia Mudavadi said FOCAC programmes and projects had significantly transformed Africa, and sharing of best practices; ICT and Artificial Intelligence (AI); South cooperation principles, is people centred and mutually beneficial.
“Railway and intra-countries roads continue to support national cemented with one voice in defense of our common interests: the right
infrastructure development projects and cultural exchanges. For benefits to both Africa and China since its inception 25 years ago,” said Mudavadi .
Mudavadi said that the foundation of FOCAC, all reaffirm that views of all parties had development as well as connecting regional countries, among others.

The PCS reiterated Kenya’s position that FOCAC was a critical framework

Kenyan Ambassador to China Willy Bett said that the relationship between Kenya and China have continued to blossom with more investors now keen to venture into the Kenyan market.
Bett said that the embassy had become busy especially after the state visit by President William Ruto in April where over 20 Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) were signed.
“We are now seeing more investors showing keen interest to invest in Kenya, at the embassy, we are busy clearing more Chinese business people traveling to Kenya,” said Bett.
Bett said that whereas Kenya Airways had a daily flight to Ghuangzhou, China Southern had upgraded it’s flights to three in a week from Changsha to Nairobi.
“This is a testament of the frequent trips by Kenyan and Chinese business people to and from Nairobi and China. We are now in talks of possible flights from Beijing to Nairobi,” said Bett.
