GAROWE- The Regional leader of Puntland State Said Abdullahi Deni has on Friday commended people of Puntland State for the successive conclusions of local council elections.
In a statement posted on his social media platforms , Deni said that the achievement of convening elections in the State is a clear testament of f the resilience, dedication and democratic spirit of the citizenry in the State.

He aversed that the one person – one vote elections provides a significant stride in bolstering the democratic space and promotes accountability in public office.
The regional leader called upon the Federal Government of Somalia and Member States to espouse and embrace the direct democratic system which he said lays out the avenue for fostering a broader culture of accountability, unity and guarantees the Somali citizen the opportunity to be truly heard.
Deni eventually thanked all the stakeholders involved in the exercise and commended the work of the Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission ( TPEC) for convening a successful elections.
Somalia international partners led by US embassy in Mogadishu, UK, Switzerland, Denmark, EU, Norway, and Sweden have in separate statements carried on their Twitter handles congratulated the people of Puntland for the historic achievements of holding one-person one vote elections and commended the regions electoral body for convening a successful municipal council elections.

Voters across the North Eastern State of Somalia went to the ballot on Thursday to elect their representatives in the municipal council elections in 30 out of the 37 districts in the regional State.
Voting in threes districts in the administrative capital was postponed with electoral officials citing security hitches.
