NAIROBI- The Senate will convene a special sitting on Monday, 30th June 2025, to deliberate on the impeachment of Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, following formal notification from the Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly.
The notice, dated 26th June 2025, was officially received by the Office of the Senate Speaker on 27th June 2025. It communicates the County Assembly’s resolution to approve a motion seeking the removal of Governor Hassan from office through impeachment proceedings.
In response, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi issued a Gazette Notice dated 27th June 2025, inviting senators to the special sitting scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. in the Senate Chamber.

The primary agenda of the session will be the consideration of the impeachment charges levelled against Governor Hassan.
In addition to the impeachment proceedings, the Senate will also deliberate on the Report of the Mediation Committee concerning the Division of Revenue Bill, 2025 (National Assembly Bills No. 10 of 2025), alongside the agreed version of the bill.
