WAJIR – In efforts aimed at retaining girl child in school, Siyad Foundation on Tuesday disbursed dignitary kits to school going girls in Wajir county.

Mrs. Amina Abdi, the co- founder of Siyad Foundation presided over the distribution of the important kits at Wajir girls secondary where several schools from Wajir East and Tarbaj sub- counties gathered to receive the kits .

In a moving speech read on her behalf by the Foundation CEO Adan Noor Mohamed, Mrs Amina expressed her unwavering commitment and support to the school going girls and women in the county who undergo myriad challenges especially during their menstruation periods.

She underscored that she will not allow a girl in this century to miss education because of lack of sanity pads highlighting that it is the right of every girl child to get access to this pivotal kits in the significant stages in their lives and promised to advocate for their rights through the foundation.

Speaking to the media during the hand over ceremony, Noor Ibrahim, the Sub-county director of Education emphasized the importance of the kits to the girls at their critical time in life, expressing hopes that the good gesture extended to the girls will prevent them from dropping out or missing school.

He further acknowledged and extended appreciations and gratitude to Siyad Foundation led by Siyad Hassan and the first lady Mrs Amina Abdi for its constant support to the education sector in the Northern region particularly in Wajir county.

Waberi secondary school principal who is also the head of the Kenya secondary schools principals Wajir chapter, Mohamed Hassan Sheikh also thanked Siyad foundation for its incredible work in sponsoring co- curriculum activities and for going out of their way to distributing sanitary pads to girls in schools.

He wished the foundation well and asked the Almighty Allah to bless it as it continues extending and discharging community services to the most vulnerable members of the public.

” Mine is to thank and appreciate Siyad Foundation for the good work that they are doing in the county being co- curriculum activities, being internal contest in terms of sponsoring and for noe going out of the way enduring that the girls are not out of class because of dignitary pads. We really appreciate Siyad Foundation.” said Mohamed.

This is not the first time that the Siyad Foundation has provided support to schools in Wajir county. Previously, the foundation spearheaded by its able patron and founder Siyad Hassan distinguished itself in uplifting and horning the talents of students in the county by sponsoring and feting inter- school tournaments.

The foundation has also been at the forefront in fostering and cementing cohesion among the society, fighting against drug and substance abuse.

It has been greatly involved in activities and programs geared towards preventing the youth from radicalization and joining extremists groups.

The patron of the foundation Siyad Hassan has occasionally reiterated his unflinching support to the youth in the county who have been ruined by drugs and intoxicants due to lack of jobs, promising them a brighter future in the posterity.
