NAIROBI- Somali National Armed Forces Commander Brigadier General Odawa Yusuf, Rage has on Thursday visited the Kenya Army infantry school, where he received salute from units of Kenyan defence forces.
The Army commander who is on a working visit to Kenya also made series of visits to Kenya Defence Forces institutions of excellence in Nairobi and Nakuru following a familiarisation tour on Thursday at the school of infantry in Isiolo.
Odowa also paid a visit to the Kenya military Academy ( KMA) where he was warmly received by the commandant Major General Fatuma Ahmed.
The Somali Army commander and his entourage was later flown back to Nairobi where he visited the Humanitarian Peace Support Centre ( HPSC) and the Defence Forces Technical Training College ( DEFTTC).
According to a statement from the Kenya Defence Forces ( KDF) , the Army Commander was taken through the institutions’ mandate and an extensive tour of the training facilities and programs.

Gen. Odowa hailed the institutions he visited saying they are ideal for training in the contemporary security threats.
He expressed appreciation for the warm reception and elaborate tour of the KDF.
“My visits here has been an eye-opener on various aspects. The lessons we have share and the exposure we have gained will go a long way in strengthening our relations.” said Gen. Odowa.
The Somali Army commander has on Thursday held a meeting with Kenya’s counterpart Robert Kibochi where they discussed range issues among them strengthening relations between the two countries.
The visit comes amid the stripping in numbers of the Kenya Defence Forces serving under the ATMIS peace mission in Somalia and the gradual take over of security responsibilities by the Somali security forces.
Kenya is a major troop contributing country to Somalia and Kenya Defence Forces ( KDF) have helped liberate strategic towns in the Horn of Africa Nation from the grips of Al-Shabab militants.
