MOGADISHU– Somalia Defence Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur has on Tuesday held meeting with the new UK Ambassador to Somalia Michael Nithavrianakis
According to a statement posted on his official Twitter handle, the minister said they discussed the existing defense and security cooperation between the two countries.

He added they also tackled the urgent need for lifting the arms embargo on Somalia.
Mr. Nur extended a hand of welcome to the new Ambassador and wished him well in his endeavours.
On his part, the Ambassador reiterated the UK’s Government commitment to continue strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
The UK government has been providing critical support to the Somali government in the areas of security, humanitarian assistance and State-building process.
