MOGADISHU– Somalia Federal government Religious Affairs Deputy Minister Salah Sharif Ali has on Monday visited the frontline of the Somali National Army forces stationed in Goof-Gaduud Buurey Haraaw in Bay region.
The acting Minister held a meeting with some of the Army commanders in the town and assessed the general situation and conditions of the troops in the area.
Mr. Ali urged the Somal forces to continue maintaining peace and stability in the area and bolster their fight against the militant group as the government prepare to embark on the second phase of the uprising against the insurgents.
He was accompanied by South West State Minister of Justice Hassan Abdulkadir Mohamed, senior government officials and commander of the SNA 60 brigade Gen. Hassan Baidoa.
His visits comes a day after the SNA new Chief Gen. Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyadin toured the Somali Army forces in Gala’d and El- Dheer where he encouraged the officers to continue combatting with the militant group.
African Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has announced that it completed the first phase of troop withdrawal and handed over seven Forward Operating Bases ( FOB) to Somali National Army in an exercise aimed at transferring security responsibility to the SNA and Somali Police Force police.
The Mission is set to conclude its troop drawdown in December 2024.
