Baghdad, Iraq – Somalia Federal Republic President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has on Friday arrived in Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq.

The President is expected to take part in the 34th session of the Arab League Summit.

The summit will bring together leaders from across the Arab world to discuss key regional issues, particularly the ongoing security and political crises affecting several parts of the region.

The crux of the Summit is fostering collaborative efforts to find lasting solutions to these conflicts and to strengthen regional unity and stability.

The summit which is scheduled to commence today will also focus on Palestine, national security, and counterterrorism among key regional issues.

President Hassan Sheikh is expected to deliver a speech highlighting Somalia’s continued fight against the extremist group Al-Shabaab, commonly referred to as the Khawarij.

He will outline the joint efforts by the Somali government and its people to restore peace and security across the country, and reaffirm Somalia’s commitment to contributing to regional and international peacebuilding efforts.

The President’s participation underscores Somalia’s active role in the Arab League and its dedication to addressing both national and regional challenges through diplomatic engagement and cooperation.
