MOGADISHU – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has on Saturday bade farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of the United States to Somalia Larry Andrè who has winded up his tour of duty.
In a farewell meeting held at Villa Somalia, the Presidential Palace in the National Mogadishu, President Mohamud hailed the efforts by the diplomat in bolstering the strategic relationships between the two countries.
The President said that Larry played a pivotal role in humanitarian support, the State- building process and the ongoing uprising and onslaught against Al-Shabaab which has entered its second phase.

He wished the Ambassador all the best in his future endeavours.
Larry was appointed as the U.S Envoy to the Horn of Africa Nation on April 15, 2021.
Former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo received the credentials of the outgoing Ambassador on February 7, 2022 at the President’s office.
He previously served as the Special Representative of Sudan and South Sudan and worked in Djibouti and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania from 2014 to 2017.
Richard Riley has now been tapped to take over the mantle from Andre who is now vacating Mogadishu.
