NAIROBI- Somalia and Kenya have agreed to deepen aviation partnership following talks in Mogadishu on Saturday.
In a statement posted on her Twitter handle, Somali Aviation Minister Fardowsa Osman said she had held talks with Kenyan ambassador to Somalia Thomas Chipkoto in the National capital Mogadishu to discuss a raft of issues including the implementation and ratification of aviation pacts signed by the two countries top leaders.

The Minister also added that they discussed the resumption of Kenya Airways operations in Somalia.
“It was an honour to receive Hon. Amb. Thomas Chepkuto, Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia today in my office. Our talks focused on strengthening our bilateral aviation partnership, ratifying our respective transport and aviation agreements and resuming Kenya Airways’ operations in Somalia,” the minister said.
In July this year, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the immediate former President Uhuru Kenyatta signed an agreement to bolster aviation relations.

The two head of States had also agreed the resumption of Kenya Airways flights to Somalia based on the existing bilateral air services agreement (basa).
This even comes amid claims by Somali Nationals who travel to Nairobi they are mistreated and face huge challenges in getting entry visas.
Somalia and Kenya have in the recent years has strained relationship following the decision by Somalia to institute legal measures against Kenya over maritime dispute which the court ultimately ruled in favour of Somalia.
