MOGADISHU- Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Friday held a phone conversation with his Serbian counterpart Ana Brnabić.
The two discussed the strengthening of cooperation between Somalia and Serbia.
Prime Minister Hamze requested the Government of Serbia to waive the country’s debt after explaining the vision of the National Interest (DanQaran) and the work it has done in the process and completion of the important laws for debt forgiveness.
“I talked to the Government of Serbia about forgiving our debt after I explained the vision of the (DanQaran) Government and the work it has done in the process and completing the important laws for debt forgiveness. I thanked the Government of Serbia for the humanitarian assistance that our people have provided during the drought, and I also praised them for increasing the number of scholarships they give to our country,” said Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre.

The two officials also discussed the importance of the leaders of the two countries visiting Somalia and Serbia to strengthen cooperation and diplomatic relations between the two sides.
Development of trade and investment, debt relief, support for international forums, strengthening of long-term friendship, health, education and modern security technology cooperation also featured in the discussions.
Serbia has in recent years bolstered ties with the Horn of Africa Nation that has seen the posting of an Ambassador to the Belgrade becoming the first Somali high diplomat posted to the country.
