Wajir Stadium was today the centre of attention during the county’s inaugural Quran competition.
The competition which featured four categories of the Qur’an was a culmination of a three days Quran competition which attracted participants from all corners of the county.
Sucdi Barre from Abakore emerged the overall winner of the 30 Juzz quran competition.
She bagged two hundred thousands cash and a sponsorship for hajj from the county government for both her mother and brother.
The event was graced by top leaders from the county led by governor Ahmed Abdullahi.
Speaking at the event, the county governor Ahmed Abdullahi expressed his delight at seeing young boys and girls scooping prizes in various categories of the holy Quran.
Governor Abdullahi said that he was dearly moved by the success stories of the finalists including Sucdi Barre who emerged the winner of the 30 Juzz category having memorised the Qur’an under the tutorship of her elder brother.
“I was dearly moved and inspired by the success stories of the finalists including the young girl, Su’di Bare from Abakore, who won the 30 Juzu category having memorised the Quran with the help of her elder brother.” said Abdullahi.
He thanked the religious scholars in the county for organising the highly organized event.
Wajir East MP Adan Daud Mohamed on his part congratulated Sucdi Barre for scooping the number one adding that her achievement is a clear indication of her dedication, hardwork and determination and portends well for other competitors.

Wajir county Executive Committee for Education, Social Welfare and Family Affairs Mr Ahmed Waredere called on parents to leverage on the emerging technology so as to ensure the Qur’an is widely accessible and available to the people.
The event was organized by the religious community and the county department of Education Social Welfare and Family Affairs
Among those present include; Wajir Senator Abass Sheikh Mohamed, County Women Mp Fatuma Abdi Jehow, Tarbaj MP Hon. Hussein Abdi Barre.
Others were County Speaker Abdille Yussuf, CECMs, MCAs and other senior County officials.
