Mogadishu -Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has on Saturday met with the family of the slain female Intelligence agent Ikran Tahlil where he reaffirmed his commitment to getting justice for the missing spy agent.
The Family informed the Prime Minister that their attempts to get justice for their daughter in the Military court has been circumvented by powerful individuals within the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and wants an independent probe to be launched.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the case is pending before the court and that those behind the gruesome alleged killing of Ikran Tahlil Farah will face the full force of the law.
Roble assured the family that their concerns to getting justice for their daughter will be addressed and exhorted the family not to be enticed to settle the case out of the military court.
Somalia’s recently appointed internal security minister Abdullahi Mohamed Nor, was also in attendance at the meeting.
The Mother of Ikran, Qali Mohamud Guhad, told journalists in Mogadishu that President Farmajo was obstructing the investigation into her daughter’s death and abduction.
Qali called on President Mohamed Farmajo to produce her daughter and release her if she is alive or bring her perpetrators to justice.
“It would appear that Farmajo is standing in the way of justice. I say to you (Farmajo), fear God, this young, innocent girl was working on behalf of her country and deserves justice,” said Qali.
Guhad intimated that the case of her missing daughter has now rocked the international sphere and that efforts to sweep it under the carpet will terribly flop.
“This case will not go away, it is now an international matter, and it will go on forever. For those who think that it has gone away and that it’s just her mother who is making a fuss, they are mistaken. Her father, Dr. Talil Farah, is here. Her paternal uncle, Dr. Hassan Farah, is here. Her maternal uncles, her family, and the Somali people – who are god-fearing and want justice – are here. This case is not going anywhere.” said Guhad.
Qali applauded PM Roble for his staunch efforts to securing justice for her missing daughter and family.
Ikran Tahlil was working with Somalia’s intelligence agency before her disappearance four months ago when she was abducted from her house located near the National intelligence Headquarters in the capital Mogadishu.
Prime Minister Mohamed Roble ordered the intelligence agency last month to compile a comprehensive report after intense pressure and public outcry.
However, The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) former boss Fahad Yassin in a press release cited that Ikran fell into the hands of Al- Shabaab who killed her but the Al-Qaeda affiliate group distanced themselves from the accusations and heaped the blame on the intelligence agency.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble in a quick response sacked the intelligence ex-chief Fahad Yassin Hajji Dahir and appointed Bashir Mohamud (Bashir Kobe) to take over the mantle in a move contested by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who urged Fahad to continue with his work.
Fahad Yassin resigned days after his suspension and president Mohamed Farmajo named him as his National Security Advisor and appointed Yassin Farey to head the intelligence agency.
The political standoff between president Farmajo and prime minister Roble has been brewing since then affecting the making of key decisions in the federal government.
The UN and the international community have been calling for a truce between president Mohamed Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Roble so as to expedite both protracted presidential and parliamentary elections.
