Somalia Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble held talks with Federal Members States leaders on Wednesday night via Zoom deliberating on how to expedite the disputed elections following the aborted planned meeting convened by regional states presidents in Garowe Puntland.
According to a statement posted on the official Twitter handle of the office of the Prime Minister, the Federal Member States presidents and the Prime Minister discussed a raft of issues key being the implementation and speeding up of the electoral schedule and process
This is the first meeting since the regional leaders announced last week in collective statements carried on their social media they will be meeting in Garowe town on September 20.
However, the meeting was canceled at the umpteenth time after the emergence of a quest to have Prime Minister Roble included in the meeting which the press statement did not mention the name of the PM Roble.
Sources close to the meeting understand that Galmudug president Ahmed Abdi QoorQoor demanded for the inclusion of the Prime Minister in the meeting
The leaders pledged to speed up the process and begin the preparation of the ballot for the Lower House as Senate elections come to a close.
Somalia National Consultative Council comprises of the Prime Minister and Federal Member States leaders and has been holding meetings in person and via video conference to oversee the much protracted and contested elections.
