MOGADISHU– Poverty Reduction and Durable Solutions department from Somalia’s Ministry of planning has on Wednesday held a workshop on IDP and Durable Solutions Statistics.
The Workshop which brought together government, humanitarian and development partners was geared towards collaborating on a shared goal and approach to measuring progress toward durable solutions using data and Statistics.
Director General of the Somali National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS) Sharmake Warsame Farah in a statement on his X handle, extended gratitude to the Ministry and its partners for convening the workshop which he described as enlightening and critical to the agency.
According to Sharmake, the workshop underscored the necessity for collaboration among all stakeholders – government MDAs, international partners in a bid to produce dependable IDP statistics based on the International Recommendations for IDP Statistics (IRIS).

The DG further expounded that these collaborative efforts are pivotal and instrumental in Somalia’s journey toward sustainable development and ensuring the well-being of its displaced populations.
The two day workshop is aimed at exploring the fulfillment of harmonised statistics framework and methodologies for IDPs that can be integrated into national and sub- national statistics production, supporting systematic progress monitoring of durable solutions aligned with NDP &National Durable Solutions as per a statement from the Ministry.
