MOGADISHU -Somali government on Monday airlifted victims who were wounded in suicide explosions in Somalia’s central town of Beledweyne in Hirshaballe regional State.
The plane carrying the victims who are mostly children and women touched down at Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu a few minutes before evening prayers.
The victims are set to receive specialized treatment for their wounds.
Somalia’s Minister of health, the Mayor of Mogadishu and Benadir governor Yussuf Hussein Madale and other senior government officials received them at the Airport.
Twin explosions at Lamagaley military camp earlier in the day left 15 people dead and injured more than 20 people.
The other third explosion was reported at the regional Hospital where victims of the twin explosions were being treated.
Among those killed in the explosions are regional Health Minister Zakaria Mohamed Ahmed and other senior government officials of Hirshaballe regional State.
Al-Shabab militant group has since claimed responsibility for the explosions.
