MOGADISHU- Puntland State president Said Abdullahi Deni has arrived in Mogadishu to attend the National Consultative Council meeting called for by the Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble amid political and electoral tussle between president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
Two regional leaders had on Tuesday arrived in the capital ahead of the consultative meeting as US and foreign diplomats call for president Farmajo and PM Roble to hold the meeting and discuss how to conclude the ongoing parliamentary elections.
This comes as President Farmajo suspended the powers of Prime Minister Mohamed Roble and accused him of failing to conclude the ongoing elections and deviating from his role to completing and managing elections in the country.
The president also accused PM of graft after allegations emerged that Roble had grabbed s land belonging to the military in Liido Beach.
However, PM Roble denied the accusations and accused the president of or orchestrating a “coup attempt” after the Prime Minister was denied entry into his office located within the presidential palace.
The UN, US and foreign representatives have urged the two leaders to calm down the situation in a separate meetings with the top leaders and called on them to expedite the electoral process.
