Somali government officials said that they money was intended to cause instability in the country buy the UAE government denied the reports and instead said the money was being directed to pay the salaries of the Somali Army.
This is coming amid political stand-off between president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble over management of elections and graft after the PM Roble was accused of building land belonging to the Somali coastguard allegations Roble had denied.
President Farmajo said last week he has suspended PM Roble powers and placed security officers at his office to bar from him but after intervention the security was withdrawn and PM Roble allowed to access his office.
PM Roble in an addres to journalists termed the blockade as coup attempt and ordered all security chiefs to come under him and warned against renegade of his directive.
