MOGADISHU-International partners have called on the Somali government to speed up the completion of stalled elections and comply with the outcome of the recently concluded National Consultative Council meeting in Mogadishu.
In a joint statement by almost all the Somali international partner on Tuesday, they called on Somali leaders to exercise restraints and avoid engaging in political provocations that could derail the political process of the country.
“We call on all Somali political leaders to put the national interest first, prioritize the conclusion of an electoral process broadly accepted by Somalia’s people, and avoid provocations that may distract from that process and increase the risk of confrontation or even violence. All leaders must ensure that security forces are not used as political instruments.” reads the statement.

The US Embassy in Somalia also the importance of implementing the six days poll outcome signed by the Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and regional leaders and urged the Somali leaders to prioritize the interest of the country first.

This comes after President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Monday welcomed the decision by the National Consultative Council Assembly chaired by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and called for its rapid implementation.
