NAIROBI- Chief Administrative Secretary for Environment and Forestry Mohamed Elmi alias “Mohamed Fai” has resigned from his position.
Elmi who quit government at the tail end of business yesterday did not divulge his resignation to the media.
However, Frontier Online couldn’t independently verify which seat in the county the long time politician will vie for in the coming August 9th polls.
Attempts by this news outlet to get comments from the veteran politician were futile as he could not respond to numerous short messages sent to him.
He joins the growing list of Senior government officials among them Ministers and Principal secretary who have left their plumb government position for elective as elections in the country continues to gather momentum.
Among those who received include Adan Mohamed, Cabinet Secretary of East Africa Community and regional development who is running for Mander gubernatorial seat, Devolution CS Charles Keter who is gearing up the governorship of Kericho county and Sicily Kariuki the Cabinet Secretary of Water and Irrigation who is contesting for Nyandarua governorship seat.
Several Chief Administrative Secretaries and Principal Secretaries have also tendered their resignations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to make changes in the cabinet in the coming days.
