MOGADISHU-A Mogadishu based court has sentenced to death a man who is a member of the Somali National Army accused of killing a civilian in 2019 in Mogadishu.

The court found Hassan Mohamud Dhiblawe guilty of shooting dead Awil Jama who was at the time of the incident was driving an autorickshaw near the national stadium in Mogadishu on August 17 2091 and immediately escaped from the scene after committing the killing.

The court had issued an arrest of warrant in September 2019 and the suspect was arrested in December the same year from his hideouts.

The defendant has 30 days to appeal against the ruling of the court failure to which he will undergo the sentencing.

In recent weeks Armed forces court in Puntland State has handed death sentences to people believed to have a hand in spate of killings witnessed in the regional State and others for being Members of Al-Shabab militants.
