MOGADISHU- African Union Mission in Somalia has released a statement regarding the multiple shootings and bombardment of police stations in the capital Mogadishu on Wednesday night.
AMISOM says it strongly condemns in the strongest terms possible the attack in the capital which was claimed by Al- Shabaab Militant group and resulted in a number of deaths, injuries and destruction of property.

AMISOM reiterated that it is committed to strengthening and bolstering the security of the capital and across the country and will continue to provide assistance in terms of security to the Federal government of Somalia until the war against insurgency is won.
The Mission further said that Al-Shabab militant group still remains a potential threat to the stability, progress and the lives of the Somali people.
“The latest attacks by Al-Shabaab demonstrates its wanton disregard for human lives and property at a time Somalia is showing unwavering commitment to the country.
The African Union remains resolute in supporting Somalia to defeat terrorism which is destructive to economic, cultural, political and social life.” said the Ag Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union commission SRCC to Somalia Fiona Lortan.
The Statement by the Mission comes at a time when the city is experiencing an upsurge in terrorism attacks as the country grapples with delayed parliamentary elections which has missed twice its deadline of completion.
