HARGEISA- The committee Representing Somailand on the situation of Las-Anod has today issued several points which behoves the Representatives to make a decision.
The members of the Committee issued a statement demanding that the House of Representatives issue a resolution on the following points regarding the situation in Las-Anod City.
The 10 points include;
i. Re-impose an immediate and unconditional cease-fire to avoid further casualties and destruction.
ii. That all the National Assemblies, Intellectuals, Scholars, Businessmen and different communities commit to ending the conflict and reach a fruitful decision.
iii. Endorse everyone who can contribute to finding a solution to the crisis, such as the international community, neighboring countries, the region and other stakeholders.
iv. That the Council calls out to the armed groups that have invaded from the areas outside the border of Somaliland and are fighting in Las-Anod to leave as soon as possible.
v. That the Council supports the National Army in securing the borders and defending the Nation.
vi. That the Council participates in extending helping hand to the citizens who have been displaced by the ongoing war in the city of Las-Anod, and suggests to the National institutions and those working in humanitarian affairs to provide assistance in accordance with the planned process of the Nation.
vii. That the Council expedite everything that strengthens the unity of Somaliland.
viii. That the Council suggests to the government that the administrative mistakes that happened in Las-Anod should be learned from, so that such mistakes do not happen in the future that will endanger the nation.
ix. That, with the implementation of the previous agreements and the general needs, a review of the Constitution should be done.
x. To avoid hate speech that further divides the society through social media (in accordance with the General Penal Code articles 444, 328, 221 and 215)
xi. To agree on the current election dispute, to get rid of the political differences, and the government to publicize the people it arrests for acts of terrorism and organized crimes.
Bolstering the responsibility of the parliament to strengthen democracy, promote, protect and encourage respect for human rights, support dialogue, encourage the resolution of internal conflicts, take all necessary measures to strengthen national unity and peace negotiations between the community and the cultural leaders, Sool Intelligence and
Somaliland Government.
It underlines that socio-economic challenges, youth growth and climate change can cause social instability, and the agencies that work for them to take their relevant roles.
It is our duty to prevent foreign interference that threatens the unity, security, territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Somaliland. Therefore, the council should make the rules to protect the borders of the Sea, Land and Air (in accordance with Article 38 paragraph 4 letter “B” of the Constitution.
They propose to the international community and the countries of the world to give full recognition to Somaliland, also the Senate should play its role in peacekeeping and resolving internal disputes.
Lastly, the Special Committee said that, believing in security and the inter-connectedness of the Horn of Africa, since most of the countries in the region are inhabited by Somali ethnic groups, they share the same race, culture, blood and interdependence, and are ready for the facilitation of everything to ensure the cessation of conflict situations in the city of Las-Anod, welcomes any neutral delegate who can be a part of this.
