MOGADISHU- Somali security forces are continuing to battling with an ongoing attack at the office of the Mayor of Mogadishu that started on Sunday noon.
Witnesses said the attack began with at least three bombings followed by heavy gunfire at the backside of the Mogadishu city headquarters in central Mogadishu.

Initial reports say suspected Al-Shabaab militants drove a vehicle loaded with explosives next to Mogadishu mall which is located near the mayor’s office in Hamarweyne district.
City residents who spoke to the media said they saw eight gunmen carrying big bags and heavy machinery heading towards the Mayor’s office.
Suleiman Koronto, a journalist who covers extensively news from Somalia said he saw several employees of the Banadir regional administration jumping from Windows.
He added that Al-Shabaab militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack saying its fighters entered the Mayor’s office with suicide bombingss.

Most of the workers, including directors and deputy mayor were evacuated safely from the Mogadishu mayor’s office as the attack continues.
The Mayor of Mogadishu Yussuf Hussein Madale was not around during the time of the attack with officials at his office saying he travelled to Kuwait on Saturday.
Number of casualties in the attack is yet to be established with Abdikadir Abdirahman, director of Aamin Ambulance Services saying at least five people were injured in the ongoing attack at the office of Mogadishu mayor in the Somali capital.
Hamarweyne police chief Najib Arab was among people injured in the attack.
Somali Federal government is yet to comment on the ongoing attack.
