MOGADISHU– African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Police Commissioner Hilary Sao Kanu on Wednesday held meeting with Captain Kali Ahmed Ada, the Community Policing Director of the Somali Police Force) in the capital Mogadishu.

They discussed critical agendas pivotal to both sides including security, joint patrols, and community policing efforts.

According to ATMIS , the meeting is part of its Police’s broader initiatives to train and mentor more SPF officers.

The African Union Peace Mission has since its onset been involved in activities and programs aimed at uplifting and enhancing the skills and knowledge of Somali Police officers as they leave the Horn of Africa Nation at the end of this year.

ATMIS recently stepped up training and workshops geared towards cementing the capabilities of the Somali Police Force to combat with terrorism, child protection and armed conflicts in various parts of the country.

The Mission has so far handed several Forward Operating Bases ( FOB) to Somali security forces including the Presidential Palace and other critical infrastructure as parts of its mandate to relinquish responsibilities to the government forces in line with the United Nations security resolution.
