African Union Transition Mission in Somalia ( ATMIS Sector 3 Commander Brig. Gen. Besfat Fente Tegegn and his Deputy, Col. Seboka Bekele have on Tuesday toured BuurDhuubo, Diinsoor, Bardaale, and Garbahaarey ATMIS Forward Operating Bases (FOBs).
The purpose of the visit was to assess preparedness for the El Nino floods which have devastated Jubbaland State rendering homes marooned and disrupted livelihoods.

The commandant also inspected military preparation and urged troops to remain ready even in the face floods.
They pledged the African Union Peace Mission unwavering commitment to bolstering relief efforts for families ravaged by the heavy torrential rains.
ATMIS has been involved in community service for the Somali people who have borne the brunt of natural calamities which have claimed lives and decimated crops and livestock.
Jubbaland and South West States are among the regional States severely impacted by the ongoing floods which have killed over 110 people and displaced more than 2 million in the Horn of Africa Nation.
